Description

Chemistry is the study of matter. It seeks to understand the properties of matter, like the mass, composition of a chemical element and how it undergoes changes in various conditions.  Honors Chemistry is a study of the basic laws of chemistry, covering the common elements of the periodic system, their structure, interactions, and energy relationships.  

The goal of this course is to inspire students and engage them in topics related to atomic structure, chemical compounds, stoichiometry and thermochemistry and get them ready for the school year. This course is intended to teach the topics students will encounter during the

school year with a focus on the harder concepts.

These 10-week 90-minute sessions include the following topics.

• Significant Figures
• Dimension Analysis & Atomic Structure
• Bonding & Naming Compounds
• Ideal Gas Law
• Stoichiometry
• Thermochemistry

Weekly assignments will be given in order to help the students understand the material better and see what topics need further review. After this course students will be ready to take the Honors Chemistry in school.
