Summer Honors Physics

Summer Honors Physics

Physics is the branch of science that describes motion, electricity, sound and light. The Honors Physics course in high school is designed to prepare students in the pursuit of scientific data, and to understand the basic concepts in mechanics, electricity and magnetism. This is also the foundational course to calculus-based AP Physics.

Course Goal

The goal of this course is to inspire students and engage them in topics related to mechanics, electricity and magnetism and get them ready for the school year. While the course will cover all topics the students will encounter during the school year, special  focus is given to the harder concepts.

These 10-week 90-minute sessions include the following topics.

  • Motion & Forces
  • Energy & Work
  • Momentum & Impulse
  • Electrostatics
  • Electromagnetism

Weekly assignments will be given in order to help the students understand the material better and see what topics need further review. After this course students will be ready to take the AP Physics provided they are Calculus ready.
