PSAT 8/9 Prep – Part 2

PSAT 8/9 Prep – Part 2

Taking the PSAT 10 is a great way to find out how ready students are for college. Many high schools require students to take PSAT 10 in their sophomore year.

The PSAT 10 is focused on the skills and knowledge students have acquired through middle school and high school. The same habits and choices that lead to success in school will help them get ready for the PSAT 10, which is made up of three tests:

  • Reading
  • Writing and Language
  • Mathematics

To be an effective test taker students will need to prepare in advance. The more familiar students are with the question formats, the more comfortable they will be when they see similar questions on the actual test. It is also beneficial to practice how to answer the student-produced response questions on the Math Test to avoid mistakes while recording the answers.

Course Format

The goal of this course is to engage students and get them familiarized with the test taking process. This class is divided into two sections:

The first section of the course goes over examples of test questions from one of the sections and reviews the mistakes and discusses strategies and necessary concepts to get an understanding of the correct solution.

The second half of the class is spent on taking the timed test and going over it. There are 8 sessions that will cover the Math section of the exam.

This course does not cover the Writing and Language, and Reading sections of the PSAT 10 exam.
